Background:
I first started taking photographs at age 14 with an old Pentax given to me by my Step Dad which he had been given at a similar age by his Dad.
At that time I lived in the countryside and as a family we had an active outdoor sports lifestyle; every minute when I wasn't mountain biking and kayaking was spent photographing the wildlife, landscapes and sport that surrounded me.
I am fortunate to have been at the right age to have gained knowledge of both film and digital techniques as my photography really began at the cusp of this dramatic change in the industry.
From there it wasn't a hard decision that I wanted to become a photographer….when I grew up…
Since then not much has changed, having studied both Photography and Business Management at University I have taken the skills learned from both and put them into practice.
En route I have been employed both as a photo editor and as a business development manager.
Both gave me an insight into the worlds of celebrity paparazzi, press documentary, business efficiency and the importance of building professional working relationships and developing referrals.
Taking the lessons learned and experience acquired I am pleased to be a freelance photographer and developing a business from my passion is hugely satisfying. In addition to repeat business from corporate clients, my work has also been published within the Scottish press. I was recently commissioned by an English Premiership footballer to take photographs at the Christening of his twins and increasing commissions for weddings, retail and events.
